How to Use Your Bed Buddy Cold

Chill your Bed Buddy in the freezer for a flexible cold wrap. Learn how long to freeze it, how to apply it and when to check your skin.

Quick answer

Place the wrap in the freezer for several hours, then use it as a flexible cold compress. Our hot and cold wraps are designed to stay pliable when cold, so they still bend around a shoulder, knee or neck. Follow the tag on your wrap, and take it off if your skin feels uncomfortable.

Applies to: the hot and cold wraps, including BBF1998-12, BBF8000-02, BBF5085 and BBF2000-12. Check your tag, as not every product in the Bed Buddy line is meant for the freezer.

Steps

  1. Start with a clean, dry wrap. Wipe it with a damp cloth if needed and let it dry fully.
  2. Lay it flat in the freezer. Keep it away from food that may drip or leak onto it.
  3. Leave it for several hours. Our 2-Pack wraps call for freezing for several hours. If you want it ready at any time, keep one in the freezer.
  4. Use it over a thin layer. Place a thin cloth or clothing between the wrap and bare skin.
  5. Keep sessions short and check often. Look at your skin regularly. Stop if you feel numbness, burning or pain.
  6. Return it to the freezer when you are done, or store it dry at room temperature.

Keep one of each ready

Many people keep two wraps so one is ready to warm and one is ready to cool. That is the idea behind the 2-Pack.

Eyes and face

The Sinus Pack and Relaxation Mask have their own instructions. A heated pack should never be placed over the eyes. See the sinus pack and relaxation mask guide.

Caution: Cold can be as hard on skin as heat when it is held in place too long. People with nerve damage, circulatory problems, sensitive or broken skin, or who cannot remove the wrap themselves, and anyone who is pregnant, should talk to a doctor first. Never leave a wrap on a person who cannot take it off.
