How Long to Heat a Bed Buddy in the Microwave

Microwave times for the Bed Buddy two-pack wrap, Neck Pillow and Back Wrap by wattage, plus the safe heating steps for any model.

Quick answer

There is no single time for every Bed Buddy. Use the time on your own wrap's tag. As examples, the Original-style wrap in our 2-Pack (BBF8000-02) takes 1:15 at 600 W, 0:50 at 900 W or 0:37 at 1200 W, then it should stand for one minute. Never leave it unattended while it heats.

Applies to: BBF8000-02 (Original wrap, 2-Pack), BBF4001-12 (Neck Pillow), BBF5085 (Back Wrap). For any other model, use its own tag.

Steps for heating

  1. Use a clean, empty, microwave-safe dish or the turntable. Do not heat a wrap that is damp or has had food or liquid on it.
  2. Lay the wrap flat and spread the filling evenly inside.
  3. Heat for the time on your tag. For the Back Wrap, heat in short steps and stop at the maximum.
  4. Let the wrap stand as the tag directs. For the Original wrap in the 2-Pack, that is one minute.
  5. Touch-test it. The wrap should feel warm, not hot. Shake or knead it gently to even out the warmth and check for hot spots.
  6. Use it over clothing at first, and keep checking your skin.

If your wrap does not feel warm enough

Do not add a long extra burst. Add a small step only if your tag allows it, as the Back Wrap does with 15-second steps, and stay within the maximum total time. If your tag does not mention extra time, ask the seller or Carex customer service before heating again.

If the microwave has a convection mode

Do not use convection. Use plain microwave power only.

Warning: Overheating can burn skin and can damage the filling and fabric. If you smell scorching or see the fabric darken, stop. Let the wrap cool completely and do not use it again until you have checked it.
